Hostel Project- Students Home
Aims and objectives of the project
The Students home was started in the year 1956. From the year 1968 'The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (NGO Division)', New Delhi provided funds for running and maintenance of Project-Hostel for 75 Tribal (boys) Students. To impart education among the poor and meritorious tribal boys drawn from different districts of Odisha and the families who have no trace of literacy in the family tree providing them with food, lodging, clothing, study materials and essentials for a healthy career.

Brief details of the Activities undertaken during the year under the projects
Study and coaching 1. Study and private coaching
The boarders under the supervision of a Sanyasi and a warden have been provided with academic guidance and coaching facilities by experienced teachers during the study hours.
2. Gardening
The boarders help in growing a considerable quantity of vegetables from the kitchen garden of the Ashrama. They produced a good quantity of different kinds of green vegetable during the period under report.
3. Special duties
The boys are assigned with special duties like working in the shrine and helping in the public library of the Ashrama. They serve their own food by turn and wash their own plates.
4. Sports and games
Plying is a regular routine matter for the boarders. They are provided with indoor and outdoor equipment. The students are regularly selected from their schools to participate in the district and state level meet and they regularly bag positions for award of prizes in the district and state level competitions.



Wall Magazine 5. Health Care
The Ashrama takes utmost health care of the students. Qualified doctors regularly visit the Students' Home. Sick boys requiring observation and rest are continued under medical supervision till recovery from illness.
6. Excursion
An educational tour cum excursions was organized in the month of December 2023. Students went on to the historical importance places of Odisha i.e.Dhabaleswar (Lord Shiva) Temple of Cuttack, on the riverine island of Lord Dhabaleshwar;Saptasajya the place is famous for the temple of Lord Ram stands on a hilltop enhanced by a stream running down the place surrounded by seven hills and Kapilash Temple known as MahadevChandrashekhar Temple is situated in Dhenkanal districtat a height of about 2239 feet from sea level.
7. Wall Magazine
The wall Magazine "KESHARI' is regularly brought out in manuscript form for manifestation of literary and artistic talents of the boarders. During the year under report two issues of "KESHARI" were brought out.
Admission
Application are invited (in the prescribed format) from the deserving poor and meritorious students of tribal communities from different tribal districts of Odisha. These students are selected on the basis of poverty through entrance examination both written and oral testimony. The subjects of the written tests are i) FLO (Odia), ii) SLE (English) and iii) Mathematics. The selected students are admitted into the nearby Govt. High School (6 minutes' walk-able distance from the hostel)
Achieved by the project
The Students' Home has a brilliant academic achievement behind it even though many boarders from the downtrodden rural poor families have no trace of literary in the family Tree. After completion of education many ex-boarders have been placed in very high positions in the State, like, OAS, Doctors, Engineers, Lecturers, Bank Manager, etc. It is always our endeavour to provide a healthy atmosphere to the students, during their stay in the hostel, for their all-round development – moral, physical and mental.
Annual High School Certificate Examination (HSC Exam.) result last 5 years.
